imontblanc
Books
iMontBlanc offers books and guidebooks that promote and enhance the Aosta Valley and the Mont Blanc area. “Courmayeur TOP 100”, “Aosta Valley TOP 100”, the photographic book “The Courmayeur Photo Book”, “Courmayeur in Centostorie” and “Croméyeuï Mon Blan” by Gioachino Gobbi, the great new release of 2022.
The elegant volume is available in the bookshops “Buona Stampa”, “Rabbia” and “La Feltrinelli Skyway” in Courmayeur, “Brivio Due” and “À la Page” in Aosta and on the website of the renowned international bookshop www.hoepli.it.
The aim here is not to tell the ‘big story’ but to bear witness to circumstances and events, which in many cases no longer exist, that were important and significant in the town’s reality: the most prestigious mountains, special personalities, the socio-economic history of the valley; it also talks about art and painters, the alpine economy and industries, the ice axe factory, the ski factory, silver fox breeding, mineral water, gold diggers; and also the dahu with asymmetrical legs, William Tell in Planpincieux and the Apocalypse at the Pavillon in 1960!
This literary and cultural project – 288 pages, all in Italian and English (plus a text in patois!) – is edited by iMontBlanc Edizioni (www.imontblanc.it) and has been made possible by the Official Patrons CVA Spa e Immobiliare Courmayeur.
COURMAYEUR
PHOTOBOOK
2020
Over 30 of the most passionate and experienced photographers in the area, in 12 chapters, “tell us about” the excellence of this iconic location, considered the capital of the Alps and of winter sports.
Seductive historical and vintage images alternate with current and evocative shots of slopes, views of the town, events, dream chalets, celebrities, nature and summer and winter experiences.
The publication is completed by numerous quotations, aphorisms and famous phrases, in Italian and English, which curiously accompany the images, making people smile, reflect and be moved; from Pope John Paul II to Victor Hugo, from Elsa Morante to Lindsey Vonn, from Walter Bonatti to Sting, from Arisotle to Snoopy.
A book that was not there and that certainly cannot be missing as an elegant “coffee table book” in the homes of those who love and frequent Courmayeur and the Mont Blanc Valleys. An interesting and intriguing gift for those who love photography and the mountains.
