Skiing without limits, sport and nature

La Thuile

The place-name derives from an entry of the Aosta Valley patois, the “tchoueuille”, which indicates the “losa”, a flattened stone for roofs typical of the Mont Blanc regions

La Thuile hosted the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup in 2016 and 2020, and on three occasions the Mountain Bike Enduro Word Series

La Thuile is a precious jewel on the border of France, to which it is connected via the Piccolo San Bernardo pass.

Known above all to lovers of winter sports for its ski area, it is also establishing itself as a summer destination for lovers of trekking, cycling and for those who love large outdoor spaces.

There are two iconic elements of this town: the ice of the Ruitor, from which the Dora di Verney which generates three imposing waterfalls clearly visible from the inhabited centre, is born and the Verney lake.

Located a few kilometres from the top of the pass that leads to France, it extends for over 2000 hectares and represents an unmissable destination for those who frequent the area in summer and for lovers of sport fishing. The lake is a tourist reserve managed by the regional fishing consortium.
