It owes its name, Saussurea, to the Genevan scientist and mountaineer Horace Bénédict de Saussure, promoter of the first ascent of Mont Blanc in 1786

Its realisation is intertwined with other personalities, this time Italian, who have made the history of Courmayeur and Mont Blanc, by count Giovanni Battista Gilberti, initiator of this noble venture to Laurent Ferretti, an extraordinary intellectual figure, professional and public administrator always attentive to the Aosta Valley reality and its inclusion in the international arena.

Located at Pavillon du Mont Fréty, at the first station of the spectacular Skyway Monte Bianco cable car, with its 7,000 square metres and 900 species in cultivation it will allow the visitor to take a trip around the world with a careful eye on the territory that surrounds it thanks to explanatory panels on the flora and fauna of the Aosta Valley and Mont Blanc.
